Diffrence between dating and courtship

I think a single Christian person using “courtship” to describe their dating life wants to psychologically believe they are doing something a little better, a bit more nobler than merely “dating”.

These two words, however, should NOT be used interchangeably.

While there are non-Christians who date with the intention of having a series of intimate physical relationships, for the Christian this is not acceptable and should never be the reason for dating.

In fact, with regards to “dating” I should not be too quick to say that this term necessarily included in the process towards marriage.

Many in a courtship relationship will not spend any time together unless family members, preferably parents, are present at all times.

In addition, courting couples state up front that their intentions are to see if the other person is a suitable potential marriage partner.

As stated before, during this time there should be little or no physical contact, as this is something that should wait until marriage (1 Corinthians -20).

Courtship takes the position that the two people have no physical contact at all (no touching, no hand-holding, no kissing) until marriage.

(See II Corinthians 5:7, Psalm , Romans , Psalm 13, and I John 4:8.) Because each individual, family, and set of circumstances is unique, each courtship will be unique.

  1. Just found out my DH was chatting online with other women while I was pregger. I confronted him calmly and he said it was only a fantasy thing and he was "scare" to becoming a dad then. We have been together for 10 years and I caught him chatting like that about 6-7 years ago. I know the two of you will be able to work through this. I just never thought this would happen and I feel naive. I just never thought this would happen and I feel naive. The next time he does it, you should kick his *** out the door.
